Nigel Wordsworth joins RBD - home of railbusinessdaily.com and RailDirector

Business Daily Group is delighted to announce that one of the rail industry’s leading and most respected commentators, Nigel Wordsworth, has joined the RBD team as the BDG company’s Managing Editor. Nigel will lead the business’ content and copywriting team.
This is a huge appointment for our business, reinforcing our position as the go to organisation for rail-related news, magazines and insight reports that reach industry influencers and decision-makers.

A mechanical engineer by trade, Nigel has spent the last 10 years commissioning, editing and writing technical rail-related articles for other industry publications.

He said: “I am really pleased to be joining RBD at such an exciting time with many new projects on the horizon. I have watched with interest the huge growth of the company, particularly the launch last year of the RailDirector magazine.

“I am looking forward to playing a pivotal role in the business as it continues to grow, adding my expertise and helping to drive the company forward. Over the coming months, we intend to launch a new series of educational insight reports, which I will be leading.”

RailDirector, the company’s lead printed publication, continues to go from strength to strength with the sixth edition due to be published in mid-February.

The magazine, covering everything from track to train, has featured interviews with industry’s leading professionals, including Sir Peter Hendy CBE, HS2 Minister Andrew Stephenson, Maggie Simpson OBE and Dyan Crowther.

David McLoughlin, Chief Executive Officer of Business Daily Group, believes it is the start of an exciting chapter for RBD.

He said: “I am really pleased that Nigel agreed to join the business. He is a very well connected and incredibly knowledgeable rail industry commentator and writer who will lead our content creation team. He is tasked with engaging and educating the industry with interesting and positive news, views and topics that will help them, and Britain’s railways, to continue to thrive. We can’t wait to work with him.”

RBD is also, this week, finalising the acquisition of Rail Insider and will be relaunching the online platform as another source of news shortly. This will complement the company’s other rail services, which include:

  • Railbusinessdaily – UK rail’s leading news service reaching 50,000 subscribers daily with six million annual website visitors

David added: “The response to our expanding product and service range has been phenomenal and we would like to thank our growing and loyal readers and customers for their support. The acquisition of Rail Insider reinforces our commitment to being a force for good in rail industry publishing.

“It really is an exciting time for everyone involved with RBD and I hope we continue to take a great many rail businesses on the journey with us, on our journey to becoming the rail industry’s leading rail media, publishing and profile enhancement business. Our aim is to help organisations to grow and prosper.”
